Historical area:

When entering Casa Sol, take yourself to the past. Historical documents suggest that the buildings on Calle Sol, where our B&B is located, were built to serve as warehouses or residences to the national guards who protected the bay of San Juan.

The area was known as Barrio Santa Bárbara. It neighbored Polvorín de San Sebastián, built in 1791 to store the gunpowder that supplied the Fort of San Cristóbal and other close quarters. At the beginning of the twentieth century, El Polvorín was substituted by Abraham Lincoln School, which can be seen from Casa Sol.

Nevertheless, the structure of the Casa de Guardia is still preserved, it housed Spanish soldiers who were on duty. When you walk around Calle Sol, let your imagination connect with a determining era in Puerto Rican history and take some of it with you.

Recently restored by renowned Architect Billy Ramirez Castellano, specialized architecture in the restoration and remodeling of buildings in historical districts, his specialty in buildings of historical value was key in the architectural design for the preservation and restoration of this property, his design brought to light unique details of historical definition and cultural value of the time.
